Samsung ATIV Tab 3 slim and light Windows 8 tablet goes official

At its "Premiere" event in London, Samsung unveiled the ATIV Tab 3, which is touted as the world's thinnest Windows 8 tablet at only 8.2 mm.The design borrows pretty heavily from their Android Galaxy line, although there's no Android on-board, instead only swiping features such as S Pen stylus support and S Note from its Galaxy friends.

The ATIV Tab 3 features a 10.1-inch screen that has a resolution of 1366x768 and is powered by an Intel Atom Z2760 "Clover Trail" processor along with 2 GB of RAM. The whole tablet weighs an impressively light 550 grams with 8.5 hours of battery life under the hood, and to sweeten the deal Samsung is chucking in a free copy of Office Home & Student on the device.
Designwise, the Samsung Ativ Tab 3 has looks similar to those of Samsung’s Galaxy series and measures just 8.2mm thick. It will be offered with or without a keyboard, with the keyboard itself adding $100 to the price.

The tablet has 64 gigs of internal storage and is equipped with both a rear and front facing cameras. Its key feature is of course the full-featured Windows 8 that will allow you to run legacy desktop apps. The Samsung Ativ Tab 3 will be priced at $599 for the basic keyboard-less model, and $699 for a model with a keyboard book cover.
