As expected, HTC has just announced the upcoming availability of its next Android flagship smartphone, the Butterfly S.
The specs are pretty impressive and borrows some of the remarkable features of the HTC One.
For
starters, it sports a 5-inch 1080p display and the similar Ultrapixel
camera found on the HTC One. The camera will come with features like the HTC Zoe, which were reserved for the One till now. The front-camera is a 2.1 megapixel affair with support for HDR stills and 1080p video recording. Perhaps another major improvement is the
1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor which is faster than
the HTC One's Snapdragon S4 chip.
The
HTC Butterfly S also packs a whopping 3,200mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, and
16GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD. Of course, the Butterfly S comes with Android Jelly Bean out of the box with Sense 5 (BlinkFeed et al) on top.
Stereo BoomSound speakers are on the new phone, while connectivity comes
in the guise of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, WCDMA (850/900/1900/2100MHz) and
GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz).
Word
about its availability is questionable for now, albeit it's currently scheduled for a release in July in Taiwan. Estimated price is 22,900 Taiwan dollars (about £490/$766) and customers will be able to choose from different color
schemes, including Red, White, Black and Grey.
